Interviewing: water bottles?
Hey fellas,
My mouth gets really dry when I'm nervous. I've been told this is natural and is part of our fight-or-flight response as humans. Regardless, I need to do something about it, as it seems like the sahara in my mouth come interview time.
Is it appropriate to bring a bottle of water with me into my interview? If not, any suggestions / anecdotes from those who have had experience with this unfortunate problem?
They'll ask you if you want some water before the interview in most cases. Or coffee or something. I've always been asked if I wanted something to drink.
For 30 minute first rounds I'd say just suck it up. It would look a little weird if you were sipping throughout the interview. For superdays sure bring a waterbottle but do most of your sipping in between interviews.
It's fine to bring a water bottle to interviews, but don't be the guy lugging around a nalgene. Just pick up one of those disposable water bottles, which you'll likely be offered prior to the interviews anyway (assuming this is a superday).
Bring your own water bottle; refuse any drinks etc from interviewers. Reason is, the interviewer will be implicitly pissed off he has to bring you a drink. Better to have your own, and, again, don't overdo it.
I would say to not bring it.
Bring a hip flask
