Investment Banking in Copenhagen, Denmark

My long-time gf is getting transferred to Copenhagen, anybody know of any investment banks in Copenhagen? I'm graduating from a target in May and have not found any banks that don't require analysts to have a Master's, can any of you Europeans clarify if I'm missing something or if this is true. Do you need a masters to begin a career in IB or PE in Denmark? Also, any recommendations on good banks in that area, half the websites I go to are in Danish (which I'm thinking is a bad sign for someone who doesn't speak the language). Thanks in advance.

Having worked in copenhagen, I can confirm without a masters it would be pretty tough. Mostly because that is the norm in europe, however not impossible. Particularly if you have previous experience of course this would help (unfortunately sounds like you dont).

I think its pretty tough to get a job there without knowledge of Danish. Denmark is a tiny place, so the deals being done are not necessarily always with huge multinationals. I also was looking to get into one of the larger M&As there (I think it was Nordea Bank, I cant remember now), and I called and spoke to a director there, and he told me its fairly unlikely at a junior level particularly without danish, and only probably possible at more senior levels with lots of experience. Still he said to apply and see, but it was very unlikely.

At the end of the day, Danes are fairly nationalistic, and probably going to hire a dane ahead of you Im sorry to say. They in general tend to think the Danish way is best.

Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but thats probably what its going to be like, however nothing is impossible. There are other avenues of course outside IB or PE that could be a possibility.

PM me if youd like to ask about anyhting else. I worked there for 2 years, so like to think I have a bit of knowledge on the place.

In Europe is it common to start after your master, more common than the US I have the idea. There are several places you can start with just a bachelor, but most firms require a degree at masters level.

^ Hes kind of right. Youll probably dislike more about denmark than what you'll like, especially if your GF isnt Danish. They arent very integrative people. However it is in Europe and nice to use as a base to travel around Europe from.

Danske Bank, Nordea Bank, Carnegie, SAXO Bank, ABN AMRO, DNB NOR and SEB are just some of the Scandinavian IB. Don't know much about the PE scene in that area.
