I currently work for a big 4 as an auditor (1st year) and sent out some cold emails. I emailed a Goldman Sachs MD of an office that's about 2.5 hrs away from my current city. His assistant got back to me and said he was busy but could arrange a coffee with an analyst?
Is this worth going to and trying to take a day off work for? Will anything come of coffee from an analyst? I would have gone if it was the MD, but not too certain if its worth it.

2.5 hours away... I'd probably try to pivot this into a call.
Try to set up some other meetings on the same day so the trip is worth it.
Honestly, this is a complete waste of time. Five hours driving for talking to an analyst? No thanks. The MD is just passing you off.
You think it's still worth the call? This is basically the only lead I have.. Been having trouble trying to get noticed as I don't know anyone in the industry.
If the analyst will have a call, sure go for it, but this is not worth driving five hours roundtrip for.

Am I the only one who thinks he should actually do this? Calls are completely forgettable and meeting in person is way better when trying to build a long term connection. OP you have to ask yourself what your opportunity cost is, if you are fighting off multiple offers then maybe you shouldn't go but if this is your only lead what do you have to lose?
An analyst has nearly no say in recruitment, unless somewhat senior. You've been passed off. Call, don't drive, unless this city is NYC/other major hub and you can make the trip worthwhile with other visits.
