3.5 is typically a cutoff they just use for screening. Your chances don’t increase if you’re at a 3.8 compared to a 3.6. More likely than not, someone with a 3.9 or 4 won’t get an offer because they might have less interpersonal skills than a well-rounded person with a 3.6.

Of course you can, I had a 3.3 and never needed to list it on my resume again within a year of graduating undergrad. Especially if you get an MBA, it's 100% irrelevant for IB

A lot of banks have a hard/official cut off at 3.5 but I think nowadays they’re honestly looking for a 3.7+ you aren’t screwed in anyway and can definitely land interviews if you network enough

Had a 3.7 GPA at a semi-target and just signed with a bulge bracket almost on the same level as GS (MS, JPM, CS, etc).

From my understanding, 3.5 is the cutoff for screening at most banks. Anything above that doesn’t make a massive difference. Of course if two kids are exactly the same, and one has a 3.7 and one has a 3.9….the bank will probably take the 3.9 kid.

But as long as you have at least a 3.6, network a ton, and have really solid experience that you can talk about at an advanced level in your interviews, you have the potential to place pretty much anywhere.
