Is Associate the Easiest Job?
Analysts grind the most and have to do a bunch of mindless process stuff.
VPs have to build relationships, know the industry and buyers and is responsible for driving forward the process and leading most calls / meetings.
Associates just check work and help shell some stuff out and pitch in when needed without having nearly as much responsibility as the VP.
Do you guys agree that Associate is actually the easiest job in banking?
It varies by bank and group, but regardless, I completely disagree.
Analysts on deal teams can suck. VPs on deal teams can suck. This can lead to some of the most difficult experiences, basically needing to craft work products from start to finish, manage up, and keep seniors happy, all while trying to train a privileged, shitty analyst.
I might upset some people but I actually think a junior VP is a considerably easier position these days. At most, you lead the process, and can rely on your associate to manage granular work and seniors to take lead in big decisions.
