Is FP&A analyst a prestigious position?

If you moved from IB analyst to FP&A analyst at a tech company, would your job still be prestigious? Probably most people in the group likely were former investment banking analysts

It all depends on the company. Some positions are glorified internal accountants where you do nearly the same thing every day/week.
Depends how close you are to strategy and new projects.

IMO corporate development, strategy, and project management are more prestigious and interesting. FP&A is a true cost center and doesn’t contribute much to growth.

Agreed - People in most Front Office roles typically have revenue generating capability

Those who don’t or people/groups who typically increase costs are often classified as Back Office, usually first to be axed during downsizing as well, so usually less job stability for people in these teams
