Is it a lie? How should I handle it?

Back Story copied and pasted from my other question
I transferred from a top 40 (non-IB target) school to a top 20 school (Semi-target school: think of USC, Emory, Vandy). I had 3.75 as an engineering major at my previous school. During my first semester at my current school, I had a 3.8 GPA but I have 3.1 my second semester after the death of a close family member. Right now my cumulative GPA is 3.51. Do I still have a chance to break into IB, considering I will need to apply this summer? Should I leave my internship and take summer classes to boost up my GPA? I am a minority and doing a double major in finance/accounting and STEM(not very rigorous STEM major though), if that helps. I am very stressed out and any kind of advice would be helpful.

So, I applied for a summer internship about a month and a half ago to an elite boutique firm. I have an interview coming up. How should I address my new low GPA? Should I email the HR and let them know that my GPA has dropped and I understand if they don't want to consider me for the first round. I had no intention of lying/deceiving when I applied. I kinda feel guilty not telling them. Again, any kind of advice will be helpful. Thank you so much in advance.

If you make it to the superday they will probably ask for an updated resume. If they do, send a new resume with your updated GPA. That could ding you, but if you're already that far along in the process they also may not notice. If they don't ask for anything, don't call attention to it... your GPA was honest when you applied, they understand if it changes after a semester.

Not sure if I commented on your other post or just read it, but between transferring and death of a family member your situation is explainable. Stick with your internship, the experience will help you more than a small boost from 3 or 6 credits this summer. Also if your major GPA is higher I would put that on there too.

Give IB your best shot and take advantage of your minority status with diversity programs. Networking is anyone's best chance of breaking in, so you should be contacting every alum you can find

Thank you so much for your response. It's very helpful. Hopefully, they will understand.

Should I also mention that I took 22 credits (I know it's stupid of me) with two labs last semester and the course load was kinda hard? Is it bad to mention courseload?
