Is the work I’m doing investment banking?
I’m starting to think I’m in a boiler room. My MD just cold calls business owners all day and convinces them to sell. He then tells them that he has a buyer available and he can facilitate a sale. The firm only does M&a and is not a full service investment bank. He also worked in business development before with no finance background at all, and no one at the firm has any IB background. I’m starting to think I’m working for a business broker as what has been said here… thoughts? Should I jump ship!?
If it looks like shit, smells like shit, tastes like shit, it’s probably shit.
Yeah this definitely sounds like boiler room/chop shop to me. What's the general size of firms u work with? I'm assuming like $1 MM EBITDA, $1-20 MM revenue? <$50 MM EV?
Mostly 1-4m EBITDA adjusted after normalization’s with some 300k EBITDA businesses. EV is like under 30.
Yeah that's def a boiler room/business broker, sorry bud. Gtfo there asap.
