Job/Career Recommendation?

I am a sophomore at a non-target. I have a summer internship with GE FMP...and can graduate in 2.5 years in Dec 2015. My end goal is to be working in Venture Capital.

Is it possible to lateral from GE FMP to BB IB ? I'm tryng to stick away from doing MBA..Is it required to make the switch?

Would you recommend staying for 4 years and getting an IB internship my junior summer? It would be tough to get BB as a non-target (rank ~50). I could realistically get MM IB like Raymond James, Wells Fargo, SunTrust, but that would require staying all 4 years.

Thanks

I'm very confused in your question. Where does the staying 4 years come in? Are you saying that you're going to be able to graduate in 3.5 years instead of 4?

Also, it's a lot easier to get a job in BB IB with internships in BB. I would recommend doing the internship your junior summer, then starting your 2 years of IB after graduation and then making the switch to VC. Unless of course you can just get a VC offer for after graduation. Then you're set!

Realistically, I do not think I can. I could submit my resume online and cold-email alumni (very few who work at BB by the way), but that is pretty much it, and I doubt my chances.

It's difficult to say. Do wells or sun trust recruit on campus? What makes you think you wouldn't have a shot at a bank graduating earlier? I'm in a somewhat similar boat graduating early and from a similar ranked school, but the same banks recruit at my school each year for the most part so it's pretty much understood where your best chances are. Honestly, I feel like it is wrong to necessarily tie these 2 factors together. Obviously graduating later would allow you to build up your resume and take more finance classes, but since you go to a non target it may not be worth the money to spend extra on it. Also if wells and sun trust recruit on campus then I'm sure they won't mind recruiting a GE fmp intern. I know of people from my school who got into banking without banking internships. It's just a bit tougher if you're a total non target for them.
