John Kasich's Experience as an Investment Banker

Curious to hear thoughts from fellow monkeys on how Kasich's IB experience at Lehman Brothers affects his candidacy.

From what I've found online, Kasich spent several years as an MD in Lehman's Ohio office. Not sure exactly in what capacity, but I'm guessing advisory related (big assumption).

Obviously addressing a biased group here, but I think it's a positive (felt similarly about Romney's experience at Bain). I'm looking at it from the prospective of skills acquired on the job and exposure to high stakes decision making.

Antonio Weiss, former Lazard banker, was nominated by Obama for treasury secretary last year. Elizabeth Warren blocked his confirmation in the senate because he was a banker.

Any candidate with any ties to Wall Street will come under attack from progressives in the general election.

"Following a well-trodden path between Washington politics and New York high finance, John Kasich, the former chairman of the House Budget Committee, has taken a job with Lehman Brothers Holdings, the company said yesterday.

Mr. Kasich, a Republican from Ohio first elected to the House in 1983, will be a managing director of the investment banking group. His responsibilities will span a range of industries on which Lehman focuses its investment banking efforts, including health care, power and utilities, financial institutions, consumer products, technology and manufacturing, the company said."
