The following is what I saw online for it. I also was wondering what this group does- reading the description it seems like its a support to the Leveraged Finance bankers, but I thought this work was done partly by the bankers at JPM- I suppose they might be migrating the responsibilities to other analysts- I have spoken to some SLF bankers at JP in the past and they told me that there is a strong internal push to get the bankers focusing on more of the structuring and modelling as opposed to the market updating. I think both are important for a Lev Fin analyst, but maybe this position is the beginning of this strategy?

Would love to hear if anyone knows about this.

Description from online job posting:

"The Capital Markets Desk within the Leveraged Finance team is a small group of professionals who provide unique connectivity between our investment banking and markets businesses. The Capital Markets Desk Analysts are responsible for aggregating and analyzing high yield and leveraged loan market data, creating concise summary materials on market conditions, and providing support on live transactions and day-to-day activity. The role has significant exposure to senior members of the Capital Markets Team, Leveraged Finance Origination, Syndicate, and Credit Sales & Trading.

The Capital Markets Desk Analysts are an integral part of our Leveraged Finance team. Their work product is relied upon by the most senior members of our business, and gets distributed to corporate clients, financial sponsors and senior leaders of J.P. Morgan. We are seeking highly motivated, professional, and collaborative individuals to join our close-knit team.

High performing individuals have historically had the opportunity to join the firm-wide investment banking analyst program in traditional leveraged finance analyst and restructuring analyst roles."

Yep, I found this online as well. Thanks for the details on internal JPM. Glad to hear someone else thinks this sounds like a supporting role to the Lev Fin team.

I'm curious to find out if anyone knows about the recruiting process/types of questions for this role? I'm assuming questions would be Lev Fin related, and maybe technical...but maybe not as harsh?

Actually, yes was told I would get an interview in the next week or so. Not sure if I should approach prep from a technical IB Lev Fin perspective, or if my time would best be spent learning non-technical things/fit q's.

IMO the fit you cant change the technical / understanding the job to have a really dynamic convo is key. can u copy and paste the job description and i can break it down line by line. check out some of my thread of comments maybe in the meantime but I can send you a 4Q19 market update thats really good, 1Q20, some JPM recent deals, and explain what the heck the group does, for starters

if its true "lev fin capital markets" - heres a copy n paste of a jefferies job description from a year ago - responsibilities should be similar basically lev fin does the LP, CIM, and modeling and works much later you do the structuring of the deal, comps, pricing, fees, flex, and probably underwriting memo that goes to committee for new live deals. I gotta work on my wife's Pre-K grad ceremony PPT im pressed for time i'll explain later. DM when u can

When was your superday? edit: This role does have a small class.] Are you talking about lev fin cap markets desk analyst role? or just the lev fin group? they're two different groups so it's kind of confusing lol.

I only had 2 interviews last week too and was told more people might be reaching out in the coming weeks.

edit: here's the role description
