JPM Hong Kong

Hey guys!

I was wondering if anyone knows what JPM's strongest groups are in HK (in terms of general reputation and exit opps). My personal favorites are M&A and TMT (JPM has its SAs do a two-team rotation), but as an incoming SA, I'm afraid that the competition for return offers will be much tougher in these "sexy" groups. Are my concerns well-founded?

Also, is it better to start out in an industry group or product group? Long term goal is PE/VC in Asia.

JPM Asia's TMT is superb, reputation wise. M&A is nice by virtue of simply being an M&A group, but JPM specifically does not have a top-of-street M&A group within HK. DI is very reputable too. But if you want PE/VC exits, then you might want to throw sponsors into the mix (JPM's sponsors team is very small though; which could also mean good experience).

Hopefully see you guys this summer. Let me know when you guys arrive.

She already has a summer offer for JPM SA? Congrats... that's quite exceptional and very impressive. I worked w/ GS IBD people (not at the firm) last summer at a regional bank (we were sell-side, they were buy-side). We got to talking over lunch and the guy from GS was telling me how JPM was bragging about how many SA applications it had (apparantly tens of thousands for Asia's 20 or so slots). I'm assuming your friend probably has major connex to get an offer this early in the game...
