Anyone in IB after having aged out in Juniors? Seems like the IB path is so defined that you need to know from an early age that you want to go into it, but has anyone gone into IB at 24 after playing junior hockey and going to college as a 21 yo freshman? Even at the associate level post MBA i'd be interested in hearing your story.
Honestly when I was playing jr's I didn't give a shit about the academics of the schools I applied to and it wasn't until probably my sophomore year that I started to turn it around (when I saw all the seniors on the team who graduated go work on the golf course or mowing lawns). Knowing the guys I played with over the years I'd say they probably had a similar mindset. I'd be pretty surprised to hear that anyone graduated at 24 and became an IB analyst, but I'm sure someone out there lived the dream and kept on givnr right through into banking.
Know a couple guys who played d1/d3 & went to banking. Most people avoided banking like the plague & went to other areas of finance/business. Know a couple people who played d1 & started their own fund shortly after college or pros

Played in the EJHL and a few other east coast leagues
I think it depends on where you end up at college. If you end playing at an Ivy, then, yes, you have a reasonable shot at IB. However, if you end up playing at SNHU or similar school then you're not going to get there, most likely. I have a lot of friends that play juniors and they are all over the place - some are out in Wyoming and will be lucky to attend college while some are committed to places like Dartmouth and Princeton. Personally, I passed on the juniors route to move on with my life, but I think the avg junior player that is not a legit D1 prospect could care less about school and/or banking.
Ya besides Ivy or NESCAC, not a lot of options that are reputable academically
Not investment banking but private equity. Aged out of juniors, went to a super non-target NCAA D3 school and now currently an analyst at a PE firm. It definitely made my path tougher but if I had to go back and do it over again, would 100% still play juniors. I would choose a school based on academics first rather than my expected ice time though.

As other have mentioned, whether it's possible or not really depend on good school / grades, more than anything and while the choice of an academically lesser school can be justified if it has a good team, good grades are more or less mandatory for a job in IB.
It can be possible for athletes to overcome these barriers, but only if they did something impressive. One of my fellow analyst in IBD was an Olympic medalist and one of my MBA classmate an ex-NFL player and they were both pretty open about having less-than-stellar GPA.
FYI, there are quite a few ex-NHL players working in S&T (mostly sales) and PWM in Canada
