Scouting out potential boutique banks to intern at next year. Had a friend who interned there a few summers ago. Does anyone have any insights into their culture/internship itself?

Buddy interned here
They have has some turnover and think the banking team is very thin at this point (one MD who has previously been with Jefferies) - a senior VP who did a lot of business development just left for another bank. Beyond this think there is one associate (just promoted from sr. analyst) and one analyst who was previously an exec assistant.
Lower mid market sell sides with a lot of focus on Amazon FBA and I believe some emerging tech
Pay is very little to the point where it is kinda weird. Still not a bad place to be for sophomore summer for instance if you are just trying to get some txn reps on your resume
If you prove you’re competent you can probably get pretty involved in execution as the team is so thin. Though doubt the experience would be very technical
Thanks, any insights as to the hours?
Buddy worked pretty full hours but know other interns not so much. It’s probably more what you make of it given (last I checked) the pay is fixed for the internship term. They don’t give returns anyway so it’s not like you’ll be grinding for that purpose
Can confirm post above. They pay interns with a housing stipend/one 1k check at the end of the summer. Def not a place if you want to get paid like a typical IBD, but a great place to put on your resume for recruiting. Upper management (used to, a lot of turnover) has solid connects in the tech field.
Do you know if they actually do any deals or mostly pitch
Honestly was more more strategic advisory and cap raises than anything else. Worked with a client throughout the summer who needed financing.
Did you like your experience or wish you did something else. Any particular pros and cons bedsides pay
