Lateral Pseudo Offer Advice

Hi all,

Sorry to do this but my ability to over-think has rendered my decision making skills moot. Would appreciated your input.

Okay, so I have position A and B and am currently at C (which is a shitshow and i need to leave asap). A is my ideal job, they have spoken to me saying they want to hire me but have some internal stuff to sort out (which may close the position and opportunity or may open it). B is a good offer but nowhere near as good as A (and not in exactly the same group, think one being M&A and the other Lev Fin), B have called me saying they were "very impressed" with me and will get back to me once they've completed their process. Had final rounds for both.

Here's where it gets over-thinky, I could potentially work for B so need to show enthusiasm - they said they'd get back to me after a week (that was 2 weeks ago) - so if i dont chase i could possibly lose the position (this is bad) while waiting for A to happen (which it may never). I don't want to lever B into A because A was won on the premise that A's group is all i want to do (they look for extra enthusiasm for their niche), so could show lack of commitment by contemplating B (not a killer but i'd prefer not to disclose) who contacted me and i used for interview practice but have ended up liking; well, more that C at least. And if I were to chase B then they say "yes BH, we. want. you!!" and i say "umm, can you give me a week", it looks bad to my potential employer that i chased....

How would you play it? lever B to expedite A? Chase B to show that i'm keen in the event A doesn't work out? Sit and wait?

Many thanks for taking your time to quell my nuerosis

Call up A and say, "Look, I want to be in your group. I think it'd be a great fit. But I have to make a decision on whether or not to pursue offer B asap. What can you tell me?"

Simple as that. I had a similar situation, and I ended up at my "A" company by chasing them. If they do not have a spot for you, then go chase offer B.
