So I started my current IB Analyst gig a few months ago and I am starting to think about the long haul. I'm at an industry focused boutique which has few to no associates and no real "promotion track". It's made up mostly of analysts and senior bankers.
Given that I have my CFA and Master's in Finance, what is the likelihood I will be able to lateral to another IB as a senior analyst / associate after 2-3 years? I'd like to make the jump to MM, but it seems like they all promote within or hire recent MBAs.
Any thoughts?

Shouldn't be too hard. Best bet is to find an industry group in line with your current experience, so you can leverage both sets of experience.
Did you do something before banking? CFA takes 4 years work experience. It could be a little tough to secure an experience analyst position if you're pushing 30, but still not unheard of.
Thanks for the reply. Should have stated that I am CFA Level III candidate, and assuming I pass, will have 4 years work experience in two years.
That's my main concern. I'd rather come in at the associate level rather than being a 28 year old analyst for a year.
Direct hire to Associate will be tough, but we've hired people in your situation as a 3rd year analyst with the expectation of promotion to Assoc without MBA after a year.
