Lateraling into ECM?
Have an offer this summer for an electronic trading platform on their equities desk. Kind of like sales & trading but focus Is only on equities and no rotational program through any other desks. Was wondering how I could set myself up best to lateral into ECM as I am interested in pursuing a career in something a little more IB focused. Any advice would be appreciated!
There haven't been any lateral openings available and I don't see any coming up anytime soon. Best bet is to maybe somehow get into a first year ECM analyst program.

Yes, the flow of the job is very markets-based. As for future openings, you're kind of asking about timing the market...no one can say for sure.
