Lateraling next summer to IB?

Current undergrad sophomore and have a s&t SA internship lined up for this summer at a BB (GS/MS/BOFA). Does anyone have experience in lateraling to IB there junior summer (would be summer 2025 for me). Any input would be great, was it internal, etc. Happy Holidays !!

The issue is going to be the timing. You'll finish up in August, and 2025 recruiting will be all but wrapped up by August, so you're kind of screwed if you aren't successful. This is not always the easiest switch either - intern "lateral" moves are always a challenge and at least in the past, BofA soph S&T offers were for both summers.

If I were you, just go external... put this on your resume and join the recruiting/networking that's about to kick off in earnest. With this on your resume you should have no problem getting a top offer. Why risk it waiting until the very end of recruiting season for something with a somewhat low chance?

I did this at another BB. Show commitment to the bank and prepare good reasons on why would you be better at IB. It also doesn’t hurt to have a good relation with ur recruiter and network inside the bank with IB people that you meet through your sophomore internship. They can vouch for you with the IB recruiters .
