Leaving Everyday During Summer Internship?!!?

How exactly does this work, do you just wait for them to tell you to go home for the night or is there an approximate time you go home everyday that they tell you on the first day? Can you stay longer if you want to or do they pretty much force you to take off? Also do you get free meals after 7 as an intern too?

-at my bank u got free meals after 630 (every night) -i would generally go around to my deal teams around 9 or so and see if they had any work they wanted me to do. if all my deals teams said no, i would try and get out of there

You don't leave until everyone senior to you in your group leaves and you're done with all your work.

You do get free meals after 7 as an intern.

As an intern, you generally get free meals if you stay late enough. The rules on how late you have to stay varies by firm.

They'll generally tell you when you are expected to show up. As a programmer, I didn't have to arrive until 8 AM; we were one of the last groups to get to the building. As for leaving, I generally waited until a little more than half the interns left unless something needed to get done.

Do you just show up on weekends or only if they ask you beforehand? Also what if it is before like 7 and you got no work, can you leave then or you just sit at your desk and read the journal or something?

My roommate would head up to the gym and run and/or lift weights during downtime.

Normally, he would bring his blackberry home with him (A blackberry is something to be dreaded, not a status symbol). He'd be informed ahead of time that he might have to come in, and he'd get a call from the associate he was working for.
