Lemkau family nepotism on full display
Was scrolling through linkedin on this fine evening when I ran into a post from Chip Lemkau, an MD at GS PWM flaunting how two of (what I presume to be his kids/nephews) also working at GS. Went to see what the comments had to say and it was nothing but absolute barrel scrapers commenting “so amazing!” etc.. until I ran into the last comment… then it hit me… Gregg Lemkau, one of the most legendary bankers in NYC, and a large part of GS’ TMT success, comments “Dynastic!”. In my head i’m thinking: how much deeper can this meritocratic bloodline run? a quick Wiki search tells that Gregg’s sister is the Global head of PWM at JPM and his dad was hot shot banker at ML. What the fuck is this shit. Maybe I am overreacting but the fact that the entire fucking Lemkau bloodline works at GS or JPM is the most obvious display of nepotism. I felt inclined to post because clearly linkedin is filled with everlasting support in the comment… so am wondering what you all think.
Welcome to high finance
Nobody tell this dude about Stephens, he might have an aneurism.
and Cantor Fitzgerald too!
The proletariat revolution can't come soon enough
This is crazy common around GS. There are tons of cases of people who have multiple family members who have been seniors at GS while younger family members join. But leave it this site, the real problem is DEI while they refuse to acknowledge the amount of connected kids who ease their way through recruitment. You are being distracted by drummed up DEI fears while these people get their relatives jobs instead of you lol.
Both are two sides of the same coin. DEI and nepotism must be abolished
DEI is a topic that can be actively change. What are people supposed to do against nepotism?
Nepo kids in my experience make fine interns. DEI kids are both more common and more incompetent. I dislike both but DEI is the bigger problem
GS is easily one of the most political and corrupt institutions in the entire United States. They always do the easy and convenient thing for the firm, even if it is immoral or unethical, doesn't matter.
They get away with it because they are very good at managing public image and have the right connections in the govt and media. Prime example is them throwing the book at the former partner implicated in the 1MDB scandal. Laughable that the higher ups didn't know what he was up to and the firm turns around and asks the prosecutors for the harshest possible sentence during his proceeding....Sanctimonious and self-righteous when it is publicly embarrassing and convenient for the firm to do so, but almost surely turning a blind eye or tacitly approving illegal sh*t to do business. Not a coincidence that the firm's GC was brought in from the political world.
The 1MDB thing alone should tell you all you need to know about how much GS cares about its people. Sad what the place has become relative to the glory days but it is working for them, at least for now
that 'Dynastic' comment is wild
lol no. talent (IQ, competitiveness, grit, personality, etc) is genetically heritable. the Lemkau family is just genetically gifted. cry harder.
Babson = talent?
Irrespective of what this guy is saying I actually do think Babson produces talent
If those kids are so talented and high IQ, why do they need Gregg and Chip to send in a word to the hiring committee? Cope harder
and meanwhile, my dad is a garbage collector and mom is a cook, and i was able to get into an ivy through questbridge.
been recruiting for ib to break the cycle of poverty, but man, even the alums are sharp elbowed in this industry.
dad is white and mom is asian and im male, so you can do the math on how recruiting is going for me in this economy.
guess im not genetically gifted enough.
my dads a taxi driver and went to a worse school than u but broke into IB. what ive realized is that i still wouldve ended up fine without IB. as long as youre dedicated youll land a high paying job from an ivy IMO. rooting for you.
re: networking.... alums always liked that i was first gen but you need to balance your story with who you talk too. always pull the fgli connection when networking with alums with similar backgrounds and talk about your last ski trip or where youre gonna study abroad with the wealthier ones lololol
Weren't you fired for defrauding your employer??
No estás exagerando.
That's it I'm calling ICE
Si senor
I put this in Google translate and this guy's on the ball
Try to type it in English next time though
lol this is ChatGPT except in Spanish. Looking at this account's history, looks like someone is testing out a bot on this forum
.
Gregg Lemkau is one of the most impressive bankers on wall street. Ever.
LOL and why would that ever surprise you? In Europe, e.g., take a look t Dorothee Blessing. She is Co head of IBD JP Morgan. Coming from a banking dynasty. Her husband was CEO of Commerzbank and I think formerly McKinsey. Her brother is also a former McKinsey partner.
Surprised Pikachu. People from rich background -> send kids to top schools -> self select into top careers -> cycle continues.
One of the guys who commented was a finalist on the first season of The Apprentice.
The industry is so much of who you know. I’d argue hiring nepos actually makes sense in the industry as long as they’re not straight bricks. It is an unfortunate sucky truth.
We all know it doesn’t take a genius to be in the industry.
rich people doing rich people things
I completely understand your response. It is difficult to believe in pure meritocracy when entire families are employed at elite companies. Although LinkedIn won't admit it, the nepotism is clear, which is annoying for those of us who work hard without those connections.
gregggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
Before anyone decides to have a career in this industry reading ‘House of Morgan’s’ should be mandatory so nepotism doesn’t surprise them later on
Fuck all of you on this site for attacking DEI when nepotism is the biggest thing on the street. Fucking racists. Hispanic (Harvard educated) gets moved up to compensate for the nepotism BS that has been rampant in Wall Street street for decades “OH MY GOD! DEI” fucking clowns. Every last one of you
Mediocre white people are the bane of society. Just the bane
Trump won, DEI will be abolished, calling people racists doesn't work in 2025, Whites went to the moon while the 3rd world still lives in mud huts, cope and seethe!
White makes will still be fucking oppressed. You losers are behind. That’s why all other races are taking your women and your fucking jobs. Fucking losers. You losers are in NO positions of power in NYC or any large city.
cooked.
