Life without Factset trace
Left IB recently for a corp gig that is still modeling intensive and am really missing the Factset trace function in excel to audit formulas. Anyone gone through similar and have tips or tools they found helpful? I am using the latest version of excel (through MS 360) and I’m aware of the (much diminished) ctrl+bracket shortcut it has and the trace precedents / dependents function in Formulas tab that shows the arrows.
thanks
Macabacus has a great tracing tool, use it everyday, its like $15 or $30 / a month depending on the version you get. Money well worth it.
If you don't have any program that allows you to nicely trace (CIQ, Macabacus, etc.), then I always just F2, ctrl a, ctrl c, then move to whichever tab the formula is pulling from and paste in a random cell to see the cells used. I've found this to be helpful
I’ve heard good things about Arixcel too. Cheaper as well.
Same - was just in the same position as OP.
I found that Ariexcel > Macabus because (1) cheaper and (2) it'll actually let you trace indirects
