Lifestyle

Diving into one of the more contentious topics on this site - lifestyle and hours. We spend so much time hearing about the misery of 80-100 hour weeks as an analyst, which doesn't improve at all if you head into MF/UMM PE. So, assuming you're an IB analyst looking at your next move, what do you do? Is there any role that allows you to have a fulfilling career and a normal life at the same time? Do bankers see their lives normalize by the time they reach VP/MD? How about associates who reach the senior levels in MF/UMM PE? And outside of that, where do banking analysts go if they want to balance work they enjoy with normal family and personal lives? Or is that balance just a myth?

this is exactly my dilemma lol. getting worked in IB and want to leave in about a year, but don't want to sign up for PE and do nothing but work for 2+ more years; have been on plenty of deals with PE associates where I see how much they work and do not envy them most of the time. Feel like going to corp dev / corporate can stagnate your career though and obviously comes with a significant pay cut
