List of Questions from Rising Sophomore

Hi. Like the title says, just gonna fire off some questions; feel free to answer any or all. Thanks

1.) What should I weigh the most when choosing between banks? Is “choosing” a bank even a thing?

2.) Are the return offers mine to lose? How much of it is just being a cool and likable person?

3.) How is ‘prestige’ calculated? Without much background of the banking landscape, it all seems prestigious.

4.) Will people care if I jack off in the bathroom?

5.) Best way to decide on a coverage group?

6.) Is jacking off generally accepted in office bathrooms? If caught, will that lessen chances of returning?

7.) Does the city you’re in really matter? What is a “tier 1” city?

Thanks again in advanced.

  1. culture, BB/EB.. MM.. LMM status, people/WLB, comp
  2. RO offers matter on multiple things. How likable you are within the group, your initiatives and how forward-thinking or adaptable you are, hardworking capabilities, technical abilities, and how genuine you are and your professionalism which is huge nowadays.
  3. no need to prestige max.
  4. the fuck type of question is this. probably not though.
  5. whatever you want to focus on. Whether you like Tech, TMT, or want to focus on HC or Industrials... its really up to you and what you find exciting to work on when it comes to reading the news and working on live deals.
  6. again, you asked this before. there is no point of asking this bs... but yes you probably would need to re-recruit even if they don't mind.
  7. yes. t1 cities matter as there are better exit opps. T1 cities are nyc, sf, london, singapore. T2 cities are chicago, toronto, LA. T3 are boston, houston, DC, Miami, denver, etc. and goes on from there.

Would aregue that Boston DC are T2 (Houston too if you're really into oil)

you're right sorta. Boston imo is T2 but I heard a lot people also place it in T3, not sure why.

Even miami could be tier 2. What I consider tier 3 are the Charlotte, Denver, Pittsburgh types
