A long-time college friend and I both work in IB at separate banks and are roommates. As of this last week, we've both gone through successful interview processes to lateral as analysts to the same bank in the same coverage group and will more than likely accept the two offers extended. We're both extremely excited about the opportunity to work for the new bank and to work together, but a valid concern my friend has brought up is the idea that we will then effectively spend all hours of the day together after the transition. Given these circumstances, I've decide to reach out to you guys to see if anyone has had or knows of anyone who's had the experience of both living and working together with a friend and whether or not they have any suggestions/advice related to pros and cons. really depends on 2 things: * how well you get along * can you both be mature when you have your eventual disagreements... its kinda a relationship, really :)

If you have to write a post about it, it's probably not a good idea to live with each other.
My roommate and I work together on the same floor and with similar clients. It was a bit of a concern of mine when he first got the job at my workplace, but I quickly realized what an invalid concern it is.
Just because you live with that person doesn't mean you have to be holding hands at work. We are definitely friendly around the office but we don't always sit beside each other at meetings, we don't spend a ton of time together at work socials as we take that time to socialize with others, we don't eat lunch together everyday, and we rarely go to and from work together (I tend to leave earlier in the mornings to go the gym before work). So as long as you both realize you aren't married and are just roommates, there shouldn't be any issues.
It's actually a good thing having someone else in the office that you know is in your corner and will look out for you. You also get to b**ch about the same people in the office.
