LMM M&A or BB ABS?
I am a senior undergrad with two FT offers to consider. One is with a LMM bank in their M&A group, and the other is with a top BB in their asset-backed lending group. I am torn because I am genuinely interested in M&A... but am having trouble turning down the BB name brand, and I am not sure I will enjoy credit-heavy, asset underwriting work as much. As I understand it, the analyst responsibilities / type of work is very different (any input welcome). Very lucky to have optionality here, but just concerned that taking the brand name over the preferred role (M&A) might be a mistake... any thoughts or advice?
Just depends on what you want to do and where you see yourself medium-to-long term dude
Any color on the differences between the roles? I like the strategy and client interaction aspects of M&A- assuming ABF doesn't have a ton of that but not too sure honestly
What type of LMM? Like regions/citizens/ 5/3? If so I’d def say the BB
In that league yes- though concerned that if ABF is not my thing, M&A may be out of reach.... maybe sticking with LMM and then shifting laterally later would be wiser idk
