LMM PE analyst or MM IB analyst?
Hi all,
I'm at a crossroads since the lateral market is incredibly hot right now. I have conflicting offers at a LMM PE fund as an analyst and a decent MM bank (Baird, Blair, Piper, RJ, Stifel) as an analyst. Both are in the same city. The MM bank is industrials and the PE fund is technology. I'm comfortable with either industry.
Which would you choose if you're interested in a long-term career in PE or Private credit? LMM fund is a 2-3 years and out deal and I'd do the same at the MM bank.
EDIT: It's mid-upper MM. Excluding Jefferies.
Anon bump
To be honest PE recruiting from the banks you listed is not going to be a good time. If you want to do PE, then I would say take the PE offer now.
idk why you would say he can't recruit from Jefferies, it'll get you looks across MM and depending on the group, UMM.
The fact that he listed Jefferies alongside those other banks implies he is not at Jefferies.
If the MM bank is HL or Jefferies you can easily exit to LMM/MM PE after your stint and even UMM PE.
