From what i understand (IBD SA):

UBS - FT ACs are out but I’m stuck at Sonru for SA

Citi - Some 1st rounds done for SA but for me still at Business Review

Barclays - No News After Tests+VI

Macquarie - Just did Sonru but didn’t go that well so expecting a ding

Nomura - seems like ACs are on, for me no news after tests

Only received rejection emails from MS, Baird, Jefferies, HL, Mizuho and Ares

I’m now considering UK SA to be a failure and trying to move ahead with other options, sad I worked towards this goal (internships, etc.) for the past 2-3 years

It just isnt really normal, applied to 50+ places and I’m yet to hear back (havent even gotten a rejection)

Morgan stanley off cycle (applied 2 months ago as of yesterday

UBS IB off cycle (did hirevue over a month ago)

Jefferies TMT and M&A off cycle (2 weeks ago)

HSBC off cycle (over a month ago)

These are just some, i dont understand why its difficult for them to just reject candidates rather than ghosting

Agreed. I'm at a top 5 European school with excellent grades. Prior internships in both IB and PE. Graduating in 2024 so timing is also correct. Only got interviews with 2 banks after applying to 15-20 places. I know that I am not entitled to anything, but reasonably my profile should at least get me into the first rounds with a few banks. So either this cycle is extremely rough or my applications are horrible.

Have heard from credible sources that 4 banks in particular are hiring exclusively through SEO London, can imagine it to be the case in other places too. Given that most people find a way to sign up anyway, it may not be a problem for many people but this seems really harsh on the non-SEO candidates.

What "credible sources?" Either state them or don't say anything at all.

Honestly, at this pont I feel like there are no opportunities left for me for this summer. No matter how miserable this sounds.
Half of my classmates (target school) got SA offers. Some are like me, and given the current state of the market when numerous people are getting laid off, it just feels like there's no hope to find something decent. I got so many rejections after interviews at BBs and one after a damn AC. It just feels so unfair and discouraging (I know, I have to grow up and get my shit together but still).

I'm an international student in London from a country that's super fucked up right now, so going home with my 'cool' UK education to find a good opportunity there is not an option as well. Feel like I live in a fucking limbo cuz I can't find a job, but at the same time can't live in this fucking expensive city without a job and cannot go home to my sort of a shithole country.

I know graduates had it at minimum as bad when the financial crisis hit and I heard their tearful stories. But I just had to rant because I got rejected from my last promising SA opportunity today and even some half-shit places to which I applied after new year don't respond to my applications.
