low gpa IB
what if i didn't have a good freshman year gpa, but my second year maintained a 4.0. Could I mention on my resume I kept a 4.0 my 2nd year? How hurt are my chances?

nah
How low?
Maybe think of only listing your 2nd year GPA. Obviously notate it as your 2nd year gpa on your resume, and when asked about it come up with some story about hardship during your freshman year or something.
Best of luck!
GPA is overblown on this site. Had interviews for 2023 SA from an UMM PE, 3 EBs and got an EB offer with a 3.3. Networking and knowing how to interview is way more important
Quick question, how do you get on network calls with a low gpa? I currently have a 3.5 at a semi target but I am afraid that when I attach resumes in my network emails, poeple will look at it and say I am not worth their time. Any work arounds for this?
Maybe build some elementary rapport before stating your GPA?
Do you just fire out your CV or actually talk to people?
It is the norm to attach resumes to your networking emails or at least I thought it was at my school. I don't blatantly state my gpa when talking to people. Also elaborate on what you mean by "elementary rapport"?
In future, if you don't understand something, google it. C'mon man. 'Elementary' = of the first order. 'Rapport' = a communicative relationship.
I'm saying be a normal person and reach out to people, chat and get to know them before giving them your CV. That way, you come off as more genuine and they are more likely to overlook your GPA.
Who cares about 'the norm at your school'? This is not the norm in real life (and normal human interaction). Bankers are people too. Reach out to alumni and ask meaningful question about their job, career trajectory and any advice rather than just firing your CV off and asking for a job.
You can also put your major GPA if it reflects better. If your finance major gpa is 3.8, but you received a few Bs or Cs in writing classes, that may be why your gpa is 3.5.
THIS ^ same GPA and EBS and BBs still recruited me
3.5 should be fine. Focus on networking and knowing your technicals.
Agreed. I had a 3.5 from a non-target (maybe semi-target for a couple specific banks) and never even got asked about it.
From the bank recruiting side, was involved in some resume screen roundtables for my alma mater. The only times I saw GPA brought up was when we were going to toss it anyways and it was used as a confirmatory point.
