low-tier SA MM to Better MM or BB FT

To those who work at strong MMs, EBs, and BBs-

Do you have any advice on what FT recruiting will look like this year?

Will it be non-existent?

My plan was to wait until I receive a return offer then email alums that are associates/VPs and inform them I was looking to switch city, group, and bank.

Can anyone offer help? I am doing well and grateful for my internship but I do not enjoy the group and firm I am at right now, but I will still speak very positively about it.

Out of curiosity, would you mind elaborating what specifically you dislike about the firm/group (ie. culture, not interested in particular coverage area, poor deal flow, etc.)? How much are you taking reputation and exit opportunities into consideration?
