Marine Special Ops Veteran looking for advice to eventually transfer from Commercial Banking to Investment Banking
Just got a job offer from JP Morgan Chase in their commercial banking group. It is a 3 year associates program. I really want to end up in investment banking. After I got out of the Marines, I went back to school and was top of my class in Finance. I took an internship with Goldman Sachs in Sourcing and got a return offer. I took it thinking it would be easy to laterally move. Well, it hasn't been. I want to take the commercial banking job because it is more interesting but its not my end goal. I know it is hard to get into investment banking, really hard. But, I want the hard job and I can take all the pressure. What can I do to best position myself for an eventual transfer over to IB? Will I be able to do this at JP Morgan Chase?
