MBA or not

Is MBA worth it? And if so, when's the best time to take it? I've heard mixed stories between:

1. take it your senior year when you're still in the zone and still have time to study before you sign your life away for couple years

2. wait until you work and see what you want to do

I'll be doing the normal IBD stint for couple years and honestly wouldn't mind moving up the ladder, but if MBA is a must in this industry if you want to get high up, then it's something that's never too early to consider. What do you guys think?

Taking the GMAT your senior year is not a bad idea, especially if you're gonna be doing banking afterwards. I have several friends who did this.

It's too early for you to think about this. Start working first and see what your short and long-term career goals are and whether an MBA makes sense for you. Visit schools you're interested in, talk to people, and do a lot of introspection. It's a very costly degree, and the decision to attend is both professional and personal.

GMAT scores are valid for 5 years, no harm in taking it while you're just cruising til the end of school and have more free time on your hands. Studying during/ after work gets old FAST

Take it now if you have the time to study and the cost isn't prohibitive. As someone studying for the GMAT right now, I can tell you that 're-learning' number properties about geometric shapes and all the other crude that you have to coax from the far reaches of your mind make taking the GMAT as soon after graduation as possible the most efficient choice.

That is to say, nothing you learn after college is going to better prepare you for the test, so waiting is only going to increase the amount of time needed to study and achieve a top score and having a job that you can't skip out on when you partied too hard the night before makes required study time painful because it eats into your very valuable free time.

I did GMAT during senior year, between x-mas and new years (end of Dec.). I recommend this timing to anyone.

Everyone I talk to who did GMAT during undergrad is happy with the decision.

I'll do what I can to help ya'll. But, the game's out there, and it's play or get played.

Did this also. Last year of school, downtime over holiday period, crushed the exam, can't recommend that highly enough.
I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.
