At a BB it’s a black box. The bank often perceives wins as a more of a function of the platform/product offering than the person. Some of that is fair, some not. You’re also subject to broader bank performance. You may have crushed it but if the healthcare group shit the bed, or a trader in London had some catastrophe that will hit your bonus.
At the elite boutiques, at least one I’m most familiar, Senior Managing Directors get 25-30% of their fees on top of base salary. Obviously revenue attribution is much more straightforward when all you have is advice.
