MD made me wait in line for Halal food

Hey guys. I recently started as full time analyst (ignore industry) in a strong coverage group at a Mid-tier BB (think BofA, Citi, WF). So far I've enjoyed the work, we have a really lean team at the office so its pretty intense. That being said, it's a lot more pitching and a lot less execution than I had anticipated, but it seems like that's starting to change as the macro environment improves.

Anyways, I definitely think of myself as one of the stronger analysts in the group, which is why I was honestly a little stunned when one of the MDs in our group tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Hey cheetahs I appreciate all the hard work you've been putting in but I need you to do me a quick favor. I've had back to back meetings all day and I really need a bite to eat." He then showed me a google maps link to a place that was like a 12 minute walk away. I wanted to tell him to just grubhub it but instead I just nodded and said "uhh yeah okay sure I'll be right back."

When I got there I realized why he couldn't order it on his phone. The place had a line wrapping halfway around the block forcing me to stand there and wait for about 30 minutes for MD's chicken-lamb combo over rice. Since the line was so long I assumed it must be a fairly prestigious place so I decided to order some for myself as well.

The food was honestly pretty good so I can't really fault MD for making me wait there. I just found the whole experience a little odd. Have any of you guys had an experience doing a similar task or was this a unique sort of responsibility? What does this assignment suggest about MD's opinion of me?

This happens from time to time. Have seen other analysts have to do this. It can be for multiple reasons, firstly, the MD might really prefer that place and as an analyst you are pretty disposable. Second, as a new hire, he might be testing how much BS work you’re willing to do (just wait till the silly format/font changes at 11pm).

Ye MD gave me his credit card once to get burger from this gourmet place across the street (a burger cost $30 there) as he was in nonstop meetings. The mba associate nabbed it before I could answer and went to buy the burger instead lmao.
