MD's email reply, thoughts? no chance at the bank?

Got on a phone call with an MD at an MM, he has a very similar background as mine, had a good chat, but mentioned it'll be harder for himself to arrange an interview for me now, as the firm has become so much bigger.

Nonetheless I sent him my resume 2 weeks ago after the call, I also included the job posting I'm interested in. No news so I followed up today asking if there's anything I can do to improve my candidacy. MD replies "I don't think so, but I will let you know if that changes. We appreciate your interest in the firm." Thoughts? No chance at this bank?

I'm sorry, but it doesn't sound like it. At least not for this role. You now have a contact at the firm though, so if you bolster your credentials you could reach out again in future. Don't bombard the person with constant messages, but after doing something meaningful (e.g., earning CFA charter), you could reach out again.
