Merger Model with public company acquiring private company

Freshman intern here so please go easy if this is a dumb question.

If I'm modeling an merger/acquisition private company with/by a public company, how would I compare accretion/dilution? Would it just be comparing the yield of the net income contributed by the private company with the weighted cost of acquisition the public company is paying for the private company?
