Metrics to use when analzying a asset management

Hi all,

I'm doing a transaction analysis and needed some help from someone experienced in the field. I'm looking at a transaction, where financial services company acquired an Asset Management firm to add to the same division of theirs.

I would like to know some key metrics to look at to analyze this transaction, if this was advisable for the company. Besides looking at if the transactions being Accretive, or synergies were met, I would like to know what other key metrics or factors would be good to look at to help with my analysis.

Thanks for you help.

Usually you want to look at purchase price as a multiple of AUM, fees/AUM, and churn/stickiness of AUM.

Thank you for that advice. Are the churn/stickiness the average inflow and outflows of the aum?

That's part of it, but also how long the client book has been with the firm/how long the average client dollar stays etc. You want to know that you're buying AUM that won't attrite away rapidly.
