MFin Advice
Need some advice regarding my situation. I’m a senior (graduating in May) at a non-target. I decided to pursue IB this summer so very late to the party. I have a good GPA, several accounting internships, and an upcoming internship in valuation at a Big 4 firm this summer. Given these circumstances, I’m wondering if I should attempt to recruit for full-time positions, or look at a 3 semester MFin program and recruit for SA 2025. I built a solid network this summer and am confident that I can land interviews. Very frustrated that I decided to pursue this so late but it is what it is. Any insight would be great.

MFins are really for the desperate that need a second chance at recruiting and can't get into a legitimate MBA program because of some serious deficiency. I don't know what the MFin will offer you other than potentially debt. It will also make it more difficult to get an MBA down the line. I would suggest that, after the Big 4 internship, recruit for both bval and and IB. If you can't land IB, work in bval and see if you can pivot (very doable) to IB after a year. If you can't, consider an MBA down the line (with a healthy scholarship.
My thought was that given the current market and lack of IB experience, recruiting for SA positions would give me the best opportunity to get my foot in the door. Seems like recruiting FT would be more difficult given my circumstances, no? I’m guessing the bval -> IB pivot is the most realistic and probably the smartest to avoid wasting money on an overpriced MFin

Agree with above, MFin are not a good use for your situation. There aren't any 3 semester MFins and people will look at you sideways or auto-ding for trying to extend one to make SA2025 work. You are essentially doing like 6 years of college with this, MFin are really only for FT.
Additionally MFIN is much more for people who *just* struck out on recruiting but otherwise have the profile and just need the opportunity to do FT again. You already face an uphill battle as an accounting student with only accounting/valuation internships, it'd just be unfortunate to waste a TON of time and money to strike out again and I think you have a questionable chance at best of landing IB.
I would stick with valuation, look to lateral to IB after a year. Maybe take the GMAT senior spring and be building an MBA application in your back pocket, but you should be able to lateral fairly easily.
Tough situation but would recommend the same as those above. MFin is a lot of debt to potentially end up in the same boat you’re in now. Would recommend doing Bval, recruiting for FT in IB and MBB, and see what happens. If you don’t get a FT role and land in bval, you can always get a MBA and skip the brutal analyst years.
Appreciate the feedback. FT recruiting typically starts late summer/fall, correct? When’s the ideal time to start networking for those roles?
