I'm a b-school student who is considering IBD as a means to eventually move into Corp. Dev.
I spoke to an alum today who followed a similar path and he offered me an interesting perspective. His view was that I should strongly consider MM IBD vs. BB, because I would get more actual M&A deal experience in MM, which would be valuable down the road in Corp. Dev. He acknowledged that the BB name on the resume is worth something but felt the deal experience would outweigh that. Anyone have thoughts or (even better) experiences that would confirm or refute this perspective?
BTW, this was not someone who had sour grapes b/c he couldn't get a job at a BB, he did a stint in BB IBD post-MBA.
