My Options - Please Help?
Hello all,
I'm kind of in a tight space right now because I really wanna pursue a career in IB and don't know what the best course available is. I've been admitted to Penn State and am going for the Nittany Lion Fund, but do you guys think it Is worth the out of state tuition? It's around 50k a year while if I stay in state its around 10k. My other options would be staying in state in Georgia and going to something like Kennesaw State or a Community College for two years to then try to transfer to a top target school? Is this a realistic or common thing seen in IB? Will it count against me in my CV if I go to the lower ranked in state school? Just would like your guys opinion on this, thank you.
Dude banking is hard to get into. But not impossible. Pennstate's NLF is an amazing opportunity and you will meet a lot of the brightest people you have ever met there. Although remember: a lot of people will have chips on their shoulders because of their situation. I went to a state school (not pennstate) and went into IB from there and It took me a long time to humble myself amongst my peers. Generally I was an asshole.
Tangent aside:
They have a lot of opportunities that you won't really get elsewhere but note that its SUPER hard to get into. Ask yourself if you can afford pennstate, and do a quick linkedin search to see if theres any alumni at each of the schools you want to go to that are going into IB. Also, the money is nice and all but don't do everything just for the money. I haven't seen my mom in months and I miss her dearly every day. I haven't even had time to face time her and I've missed my uncle and aunt's visit from Arkansas to my home state.
I think you should go, but only if you can afford it. Kennesaw isn't a bad school in any record of the word, I just don't know that much about the school.
- Just background Kennesaw is just a below average state school. I can afford Penn State because my parents are paying for any undergrad that I go to or choose, but I don't know if its worth the money because even if I do go to Penn State I would still like to transfer. I just feel like Penn State is just a state school and will be looked down upon so whichever school I go to I'd probably transfer out. Some people are telling me that logically, I should just go in state at Kennesaw save the money, and it would probably be easier to transfer out, (less competition, easier to stand out). However, I don't know if that is the smartest course of action? What would you do? Thanks for dropping your knowledge.
