Navigating IB ft. DEI Beckies

For all the young men about to embark on their journey in IB, sooner or later you will have female colleagues all of whom will claim they are not DEI Beckies and that they got hired / promoted on merit.

Nothing could be further from truth. By virtue of their gender, they automatically benefit from all the perks earmarked for DEI meaning special bonuses, protection from layoffs, early promotions, less staffings.

While you can’t do much about their freeloading; don’t forget to remind them who they are, a DEI Beckie.

Here is a primer:

God do you incels ever shutup? I’m not a fan of DEI either but holy shit it’s a new post every week about this

DEI Becky spotted ^

You are not a fan, you are a beneficiary.

You are either a DEI Becky or a cuck

Edit: Women and cucks MSing

The problem with your implication is that only white men got into banking via their own abilities and all minorities and women are simply DEI. That's generally false. Is DEI broken? Yes, absolutely. No one can really deny that. But most people who got in through DEI pipelines probably would've gotten in either way. The DEI pipelines exist almost entirely for sophomore recruiting and summers, meaning only those who have heard of IB and actively recruited for it are ever able to get into these types of programs. That inherently means most DEI people are already elite students at top schools, already knowing of these places.

Also, you're acting like IB is some difficult job. It just isn't. Legit all these "DEI" people aren't getting fired because they're perfectly capable of putting numbers into a spreadsheet.

Yes all women are DEI as they benefit from gender quotas during hiring, and internally during promotions and bonuses.

No, not all minorities are part of DEI.
DEI is classified by banks as women, black & Hispanic men, and LGBTQ+.

White, Asian, Brown, and Arab men are not DEI.

You see this is the plainly obvious conclusion of DEI to anyone with a brain and why (competent) women and minorities should have been against it from day one.

If you lower the bar for SOME people in a group, you put an asterisk on ALL people from that group.

It was racist to not want a black doctor 20 years ago, because that was prejudice based on race. It is now a shockingly reasonable ask because med schools have been lowering the bar for some people based on the color of their skin, so now it calls in to question the ability of ALL black doctors.

The fact this incredibly obvious second order thinking didn't happen is typical of well-intended but brutally flawed liberal policy that characterizes their party perfectly.

Agreed but Conservative Party isn’t better either. They can’t see past white women when it comes to DEI while liberals focus on all women + some colored minorities / LGBTQ. DEI is vile tbh

This clearly shows me you know basically nothing about med school applications. My wife is an NP, or at least was until we had our second. I went to a very pre med school in the south. Race plays an incredibly small factor, close to zero, in admissions to med school.

Today is annual corporate handout day for women in IB. It’s hilarious the number of incompetent women that barely meet the criteria got promoted so that their bosses can meet gender targets. A lot of them handed out accelerated promotions by virtue of their gender. Non-DEI men should be concerned. You are being made to work twice as hard for half the rewards.

I get that DEI is stupid and H1B has been abused, but this shit is so annoying.

I remember back when this website had useful info, was funny and a thriving community. Now it’s a ghost town filled with braindead, social media addicted gen-z virgins complaining about DEI or internationals because they’re too fucking stupid and lazy to get a job in IB. The entitlement and victim mentality is off the charts.

WSO was great while it lasted.

Nobody is complaining about H1B or immigrants. No need as they are not part of DEI.

It’s is very specific: women absorb 90%+ DEI seats and by virtue of gender are prime beneficiaries. You can no longer hide behind generic terms like minorities.

Tbf, banking is consolidating so there is a shrinkage in seats available. It's only gotten harder to get a role, especially with more people trying to break in YoY. Most graduates don't know the difference between a blue ocean and red ocean.

This is as stupid as years of hearing people tell me to check my privilege as an unknowing beneficiary of being a man in finance.

DEI is dumb and out of control, but going to the other extreme is neither productive or a thoughtful way to represent your position.

Do us all a favor and find a way to communicate your frustration in a manner that people that do not already agree with you already will listen to.

I can tell you right now that anyone that isn’t in their 20s and an incel is not going to want to side with the position that no women are hired on merit.

There is no privilege in being a man in finance, but as a white man, that is a different story. Peak privilege and chief facilitators of gender DEI gravy train.

All banks, especially Canadians have hiring / promotion quotas for women. Whether you like it or not, women benefit from them and it’s not like you can opt out of the preferential treatment. After all, they lobbied for it because in 1700 their grandma was oppressed that’s why they deserve 100% of rewards for 70% of staffings.

Why are you commenting then. You can ignore the post. Don’t we have freedom of speech anymore?

The post is not directed to a specific firm / individual so I don’t see why you are triggered.

You don’t want this issue to be discussed because you are guilty of discriminating against non-DEI men as an MD to improve your DEI metrics.

Why don’t you go ahead and prove us that there are no gender targets in hiring and promotions?

On the contrary, DEI audit reports of most major banks show there is board mandated target of 40-50% women in VP and above roles. If that is not a forced quota, then what is.

Sounds like your ideal work place is Sigma Chi Fraternity: Corporate Life Ass Hole Chapter.

You play the cards you’re dealt. Sounds like you’re bitching about not having a bonus that was promised to you 3000 years ago…

You are biased against men. I am not advocating for any discrimination. I am just outing the internal quotas leading banks have for hiring and promoting women and you are hating it as it tarnishes all the image building your l*ser bosses have been doing for personal gains.

jews fav topics on WSO:

disenfranchised white men, beckies, DEl, LGBTQ, WASPs, feminism, women, incels, boomers, zoomers, minorities, nepo babies, meritocracy, race blindness, liberals, tribalism, whites, asians, browns, arabs, hispanics, blacks

notice how literally nobody has mentioned ... JEWS

Bull crap. If anything this post unites men along ethnic-religious lines and highlights freeloading by women. The lazy bums of our society who are being pandered by virtue of their gender.

jews this thread : DEI beckies are incompetent

jews the other thread: DEI colleagues are actually smart

so jews manipulate both sides of the discourse, and both threads appear on the front page.

so they manipulate all twitter discourse, and now all the jews manipulate WSO discourse!

The worse economic robbery of the 21st century is disguised as gender equity.

“Educate and advocate” is the banner under which it is socially acceptable to penalize men while facilitating women. Young men need to be aware what awaits them in the corporate world. They will be told they are not good enough and they need to work harder and if they complain they will be labelled misogynist. In reality they never stood a chance, long before they hit their desks some old white man / woman at the top, already decided their fate with gender targets. Everyone from Director and above is an accomplice in this robbery, their comps benefit from hitting gender KPIs.

Problem is that if you reward badly performing women because of promotion quotas you create an environment for them that is not as competitive as it is for men. This leads to women having worse performances over the long term because we don't demand enough from them. As a women-lower I would advocate for an environment that is purposefully more stressful and psychologically unbearable specifically for women so that they can be more successful in the long term. Like mandatory sandwich making session in between meetings or other favours other more competent male colleagues might demand. I believe this would be best for them. But the misogynists in charge would never allow that to happen and instead they trick women into thinking they'll get preferential treatment when in reality they're making them worse than their peers thereby intentionally reinforcing the misogyny that is plaguing our society...

Comments just show how femc*ls and c*cks have infiltrated corridors of power.

Incorrect. Gender DEI programs are still ongoing both in hiring and promotions. It’s the racial ones focusing on black / Hispanics which have been discontinued.

We are not living in a time of surplus anymore, so people's tolerance for random crap like DEI is much lower. The lib narratives keep taking constant hits both from the right / Trump but also self sabotage (Somali scandal in Minnesota). BLM also turned out to be a fraud, with the leaders using the money for their personal gain

Ideally there's one more Republican admin following Trump to really purge DEI at its roots. It look a long time to build up, so it'll take a long time for it to go

Dude, at this point, we understand there are "DEI Beckies". When is the whining and complaining gonna stop? There's nothing you can do about it, so just work, get your paycheck, and live your life.

Just goes to prove the new gen of tryhard hires are all v1rg1n chuds. because if they weren't, they would agree with 100% of men who have ever walked the planet before this nosepeople controlled society - agree that women are great but do not belong in a banking job of all places
