Networking for Full Time - Boutique to Boutique
Hi, I'm going to a top boutique (think Guggenheim/Rothschild tier) this summer but I'm considering trying to get into an EB (ie Evercore, PJT, Lazard) for full time. Given the small community, and that so many of the senior bankers at these firms have worked at other firms, is it worth trying to network while risking having my own firm find out that I'm networking with other firms for full time opportunities?
Do some analysts/associates or even MDs tell their friends at other firms if they know their summers are networking into their firm?
Would it risk the chance of me getting a return offer if they hear that I've been meeting with people from other firms?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
When should I start to reach out full time (Originally Posted: 07/05/2017)
I am currently working at a boutique IB in Chicago. I am currently interning there. However, I want to look elsewhere for full time. When should I start to reach out and how? I have a lot of interest in the big boutiques like HL, Moelis, Greenhill, Evercore. Preferably in Chicago
As soon as possible, most banks look to fill up their FT with the summer analysts and then look to quickly fill those final vacancies
asap. never too early with the recruiting timeline getting moved up each year.
