Networking for Summer 2026 IB Analyst Roles (October)
Hi Monkeys,
I’ve noticed that some MM's, BB's, and even a few EB's have recently opened applications for Summer 2026 IB analyst positions.
Since the main recruiting cycle for 2026 is technically over, I was wondering — would it still make sense to reach out and network with bankers at these firms right now, or should I just focus on applying directly through the portals?
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question — I just haven’t been able to secure an offer yet and want to approach this the right way without sounding pushy to bankers this late.
Absolutely, networking is still a smart move even at this stage. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s why and how you should approach it:
Networking is Key, Even Late in the Cycle: Many users on WSO emphasize that networking is critical, regardless of the timing. Bankers can still push your resume internally or provide insights into any last-minute openings. Some firms may have unfilled spots or unexpected needs, so building relationships now can give you an edge.
Targeted Outreach: Focus on bankers with whom you share a connection—alumni, mutual interests, or similar backgrounds. This increases the likelihood of a response. Start with a concise email introducing yourself, expressing genuine interest in their firm, and asking for a brief call or coffee chat.
Be Respectful of Their Time: Since the main cycle is over, bankers might be busier. Keep your outreach professional and to the point. Acknowledge the timing and express your understanding of their schedule.
Balance Networking with Applications: While networking is crucial, don’t neglect the application portals. Submit your applications promptly and use networking to supplement your efforts. Mentioning your application during conversations can also help bankers associate your name with your resume.
Follow Up Strategically: If you’ve already networked with some bankers earlier in the cycle, now is a good time to follow up. Update them on your progress and reiterate your interest in their firm.
Remember, networking isn’t just about landing an offer—it’s about building relationships that can benefit you in the long run. So, even if it feels late, it’s worth the effort. Good luck!

Tbh what do you have to lose at this point. Getting an offer at this stage will probably depend on networking even more than during the main recruiting cycle, so I would just go for it. The sooner the better as class of 28 is reaching out already for SA 27
Would you mind elaborating the BB/EB names? Did not found BB/EB openings for IBD US 26 SA, only EMEA or APAC. For US, only notice that there are some MM IB and buy-side 26 SA ongoing.
