Networking in different branches/cities

I have a couple questions about networking. I have some informational phone calls setup and I am somewhat new to this. Some of the calls I have set up are with banks I would like to interview at but with people who are either in different fields or in different cities than what I want to do/where I want to be. Will they still be helpful for me? Should I basically ask for them to put me in contact with other people at their bank at the end? I don't want to be too pushy but I also want to get something out of each person I contact. Thoughts?

I don't know why you would network with people from different branches I doubt they could really help you much, but different city is ok as they might still know others. At the end of you call it's fine to ask if they have any other contacts that you could reach out to

ct bankerNot exactly sure what you are asking, but I have cold emailed people in different cities and gotten interviews this way. Not too difficult only issue is maybe you cant meet to have coffee or whatever.

Exactly, just seems shallow and fake without getting at least a little bit of face time. Just wanted to get a feel for how people have gone about it and how much success they have. Any personal tips?

Networking in another city is no different than your current networking set. The big change is just the trip for a face to face meet up.

To be honest once you get into the Street it actually may pay dividends to "change" your address on your resume. Wrote about this before and it sounds "shady" but anything to get that interview. If you're well qualified for say a new promotion job that pays an extra 20%, the cost of buying a plane ticket is minimal. The more you move up the less likely it is to find a better paying job so if you must move across the country well get on that plane and interview. Its not like people ask you to start within a single day so you could find a place between offer and new change in address then just email the HR department and say your address changed to XYZ. Its not a huge deal, have done it before as well when doing coast to coast promotions/job changes.

Don't give up on a big opportunity based on "logistical issues" you're only hurting yourself. Good slots fill up quick so give yourself the best possible fighting chance.

In all seriousness, if someone actually did this and we "caught them" the offer would still stand because they were the most qualified, just hustling to get that offer.
