Neuroscience to investment banking possible?

My friend has been asking me this so I am posting here for him, how can someone with a neuroscience degree (BS) go do investment banking/finance? Should he get an MBA? Is a BS good enough? Please give me/him some more insight on this.

It’s possible, source: I’m a neuro major. Going to a generalist EB program as well, so not only for HC coverage groups. Reality is nobody cares about your major. More important thing would be your school.

Yes, several neuroscience undergrads at my uni (UCL) which have had solid offers from BB/EB. Also know several doing SWE from a neuroscience undergrad. Absolutely possible as long as you have a good story (most people go with the I became super interested in xyz treatment for abc disease and came across this M&A deal that helped propel the treatment. Became passionate about M&A in the context of healthcare since and more broadly an interest in transactions etc.)

In a similar boat, but at the Master's level. There's a high probability of me getting into Oxford's Master's in Neuroscience. However, I'm not sure if I can easily get into Oxford's MFE or LSE's MFin/A&F due to extenuating circumstances during my Bachelor's.

Will a one-year degree as an international student be enough to secure an internship and convert it into a full-time role in Equity Research or a Hedge Fund?
