Non-Target or Gap year?

I am an international student and have jus gotten my grades from school, I dint study in the UK but my grades covert to an A* in all other subjects and an A in math. I have been offered a full ride scholarship at a UNI back home but its a non target. So is it advisable for me to take a Gap year and try to apply to Target UNIs in the UK like Warwick and also what should I be doing in my Gap year to boost my candidacy and is a course like accounting and finance good enough for banking?

study anything you want at a target - most top schools won't offer accounting and finance undergrad, Imperial only offers STEM for example. Unless you hold an offer at a demi-target, I would strongly suggest taking a year out and getting into a target for a decent course (doesn't need to be econ ;STEM courses like bio/chem etc tend to be less competitive and guaranteed to get in whilst being great from a recruiting perspective)

Good luck
