Not ideal summer offer, told to come back after ac with BB once I get more experience, next steps?
London summer recruiting is ending. I got a few interviews, did 2 ACs (one in IBD at a BB), and performed well in both, but was ultimately told that, while my interviews were fine and competitive, they gave preference to master's students with Euro languages and more experience. In the feedback call, they also said to come back later, perhaps with another internship under my belt.
Regarding next steps, I managed to get a summer position at a credit HF (small team but high AUM), but it won't be convertible. I am also speaking to some small advisory boutiques and a MM PE firm. It's likely that the credit HF experience will result in a Levfin/capital markets role later on, but that's fine.
Should I take the credit HF and apply for A) Off Cycles B) Summers next cycle (w intended masters) C) Maybe join a smaller firm and just go with it
At a top target with good experience but no European language
Had similar issue, landed BB offer this year following my internship as a result.
Go for the internship, apply for a masters and use it to extend graduation date.
Then, leverage the credit HF to apply to bigger shops.
How do we signal extended masters on portals? Dont want to get dinged for not being a target etc as I wouldn't know where I'm doing the masters at the time
Future graduation date?
bro fucking name and shame the BB (sounds like GS/MS).
There is always space for 2nd year UGs from the UK and they should be assessed differently from 4th year masters from the continent.
favouring master students sucks because it means UK students will reapply in final year and take a gap year/masters delaying start date by a year.
Not everyone wants to be a 27 year old analyst
27 yr old starting an1??
One of the guys on my AC had two internships at BB's and one at a MF, not 27 but still kinda crazy that this is what a 19 year old is up against
There is a 30 year old AN1 pervert at my bank.
