Not impressed with MBAs

Work at a top office for MBB as of 6 months ago.

I’m consistently impressed with the undergrads, but the MBAs (excluding HS) just seem so under-qualified in comparison. The tiering as far as I can tell: HS >> W >>>> m7.

Is this a common experience?

Controversial

Probably because MBB MBAs are random diversity hires. Post-MBA diversity hires are worse than undergrad diversity hires because they're doubling up on the bar being lowered. They had a massive advantage getting into business school and then within business school they have a massive advantage in recruiting. Getting into a good undergrad is still competitive for random white or Asian woman. Getting into business school is not for them.

Most Helpful

People usually get MBAs because they’ve either stalled in their career and need a bump or because they want to transition into something new. In both of these cases, they’re obviously not going to compete effectively with some fresh college grad who’s already been prepping for the job through internships and training between classes.
