NYC Summer Apartments - NYU, NYU Law, Columbia, etc.

Do NYU housing. It's easy and straightforward. If you do it early enough you can get a single and not have to worry about sharing with some hipster taking film classes over the summer and bringing his unbathed friends over constantly while you're trying to get those precious few hours of sleep each night.

Some BBs rent out parts of NYU housing for the summer. You still go through NYU, but you're basically guaranteed to have flatmates that also work at the same bank (though possibly in different divisions). I did this last summer and it was awesome because you can cab home together and go out together.

Do a craigslist search for "sublets". It worked well for me this past summer. I found a girl that wanted to spend the summer in Thailand and was trying to rent out her room. Just make sure that you meet the roommates and that the key works before you hand over any cash.

One major issue with NYU to keep in mind is that you need to sign guests both in and out. Made things kind of awkward, particularly if you had work the next morning.

"So... just so you know, I uh.. need to be at work by 6:30 so you kind of need to get up and leave. Probably should have mentioned this to you last night"

Agree with everyone stay at NYU. Columbia is pretty far up in Manhattan at 125 St, if you work in downtown then the commute will be pretty long. Also another benefit about NYU will be that there will be plenty of hot girls staying at the dorms and around the area.

Having lived in a dorm for a summer already, I can tell you that subletting an apartment is definitely not overrated and probably worth the extra effort.

And in my experience I had absolutely zero interaction with any of the other dorm inhabitants, so idk how much you should weight living with students.
