Oaktree vs. GSC - which firm has the better reputation and exit opportunity to top PE/hedge funds? Is GSC better if you are going down the hedge fund or distressed debt track?

I don't know which one is better, but I do know oaktree is extremely legit. Arguably the biggest/best vulture fund out there.
is bigger in distress, both are big, well-respected organizations. I don't think Oaktree is the best distressed investor out there, but they're certainly around/in most big situations (there are funds with smarter people, in my mind, doing distress)

Oaktree is better. Takes kids from UBS-LA every year. But yea, you don't really aim to exit from firms like Oaktree and GSC.
It's not worth asking b/c it's absurd to think you'd join one of those two for exit opps, not because one is so much better than the other.
