Off Cycle Timeline
Graduating in June 2026 from target and not landed anything in IB yet. Trying for SA26 but want to keep options open obviously. I have an S&T summer and PE summer for context.
What is the timeline for off cycle recruitment for July/September starts? Would these lead to FT roles potentially? Would appreciate any insights from people who have navigated this before. Thanks!
Off cycle roles tend to have slightly less competition, but most of them tend to start in Q1 or Q2 and are catered towards recent grad. You might find some Q3 or Q4 off cycles but they will most likely be posted in March/April/May/June/July of 2026.
Off-cycles typically have a higher conversion rate than summers simply for the fact that they tend to have less people on those internships and you are with the firm for a longer period of time (3-6 mos rather than 8-10 weeks).
Thanks a lot. I will be a recent grad for Q3/Q4 as I graduate in June 2026. Will keep a look out for opportunities. Would you think the level of technical knowledge needed is similar?
Also would you think applying from a particular email/changing accounts matters or just BS lol
Technical knowledge would be similar but considering you have relevant internships they would probs press more.
Changing email's won't help as if your CV is the same/similar they'll probs know,
Quick question, I'm convinced that getting a SA role in a bank/big financial institution, or even a medium/small sized one is difficult if one is from a non-target uni.
So my question is, how likely is it to get a Off-cycle internship at some medium/large financial institution for 3-6 months coming from a very non-target university not from the same country?
And is it feasible if it is during the last semester of the penultimate year, and not necessarily having obtained a degree yet?
Get started on that GMAT prep buddy
As someone else commented to what you said - getting in from a non target is nearly impossible (tbf it's becoming increasingly difficult from a target/semi-target as well). Obvs you might get a couple UK non targets at springs, but then it really cuts down from there especially for Front Office positions. I would say keep applying everywhere, but it most certainly is an uphill battle. Additionally, tbh considering you would need a visa or you come from a non-big EU university your chances become next to none (idk nor have ever heard of anyone getting an internship in any capacity in London finance if they are from a non-UK non-target).
Most Off-cycles have to be done post graduation or during a placement year, you can't do one when in full time education.
In order words, try applying - no harm in that, but don't have your hopes up. You are better off upskilling, and getting prepped for a target UK masters or top EU masters if you want London recruiting.
What would you say my chances are at OC or FT? Great HS grades, great Uni grades but at non-target, 1yr internship exp at mm bank across a few FO roles and 1 internship at at mid BB that had a 0% RO rate
